DARRYL L. WEBB SR.

Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Darryl L. Webb embodies the true meaning of perseverance, vision, and faith. A proud graduate of University City Senior High School, Darryl married his high school sweetheart, Kim D. Mason, at just 19 years old. Their union, now celebrating 46 years, is a cornerstone of his life and legacy. Together, they are the proud parents of Kimeka Webb Stewart and Darryl Webb Jr., and grandparents to Jayden Lorenzo Stewart, affectionately known as “Buggs.”

Darryl’s remarkable journey began behind the counter as a crew member at Burger King. In 1976, he joined McDonald’s Corporation, where his sharp business acumen quickly propelled him into leadership roles across the U.S. and abroad. As CEO and Managing Director of McDonald’s South Africa, he guided the organization to multiple global sales and service awards, becoming the first wholly owned U.S. subsidiary to reach profitability within its first three years. His career later expanded to senior executive roles at Darden Restaurants, Bloomin’ Brands, and Golden Corral, solidifying his reputation as a respected leader in the restaurant industry.

Guided by his deep faith, Darryl balanced corporate leadership with his calling as a Minister. After stepping away from corporate America for a period of time, he returned to the restaurant industry with renewed purpose. That decision led to a defining moment—becoming a McDonald’s franchise owner alongside his wife, Kim. As Owner, President, and CEO of Kimco Family Restaurants, LLC, he successfully operated five McDonald’s locations in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Darryl’s journey is a full-circle success story, rising from “fry cook” to corporate executive and business owner, his drive and integrity extend well beyond the restaurant industry. Today, he serves as Owner and CEO of Kimco Family Enterprises, a thriving real estate holding company with more than 50 residential and commercial properties with a goal of at least 250 in the next 5 years.

Through it all, Darryl has remained steadfast in his commitment to faith, family, and excellence. His story demonstrates that with determination, integrity, and vision, extraordinary outcomes are possible. If you had told me decades ago, as I stood sweating over a sizzling basket of french fries at Burger King, that one day I’d occupy a corner office in the C-suite, I might have smiled politely but inside, I’d have dismissed it as impossible. Back then, I was just Darryl Webb, a kid from North St. Louis whose biggest ambition was getting my next paycheck, helping Mama pay the bills, and maybe, just maybe, someday having a car of my own.

Yet my story is not unique. In fact, my journey mirrors the story that lives deep within each of us. The relentless pursuit of purpose, the resilience to bounce back from crushing disappointments, and the courage to reinvent ourselves when life demands it. This book isn’t just about a kid who started on fries; it’s about your aspirations, your dreams, your obstacles, and your potential to overcome them.

You’ll walk with me through my childhood growing up poor in St. Louis but surrounded by a family rich in love and integrity. You’ll stand beside me during the heartbreak of seeing my family torn apart by divorce, discovering how betrayal and hardship can either break you or ignite within you a fierce determination to rise higher than anyone expected. You’ll share the emotion of climbing through the ranks of corporate America, learning lessons of humility and leadership at every step lessons I never could have learned in any classroom, conference room, or seminar.
